This Lucid Mobile key (Android version) to trees endangered or restricted to Mesoamerica was developed for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) – in Spanish. Based on conspicuous characteristics of trees and anatomical wood, the objective is to provide an easy to use identification tool for endangered species of rare and of high commercial value. It is being used to lay the foundation for the construction of a gene bank to be used in restoration processes in the future.

Currently the key incorporates 71 species restricted to Mesoamerica. The project was funded by USAID and UKaid.

IDentifyIt Species

The IDentifyIt Species Tool is a practical, easy-to-use identification guide that works as an elimination key. It was created to assist customs officials, law enforcement officers, border police and Environmental Management Inspectors (EMI’s) with the identification of South African TOPS and CITES-listed species, thereby enabling better regulation and monitoring of the local and international trade in these threatened and endangered species
